Conventional Tile Beds

The most common septic bed, conventional tile beds consist of a series of trenches. These trenches have stone on the trench bottom and perforated PVC drain pipes above. The length and number of these trenches depends on the percolation rate of the native soil and the daily sewage design flow.

Intended Use:

  • Larger project areas

  • Cost-effective (can use native soil as backfill)

  • Usually a gravity-fed system where no pumps are required

  • Stone and geotextile fabric covers the drain pipes

  • In-ground or raised depending on the project
